Rental Companies are Backing Off Teslas

The falling price of Teslas may be good news for consumers who want one, but it's not all that great for rental companies. Part of the profitability of a rental fleet is its resale value. Hertz has already announced it will slow its acquisition of new Teslas and other electric vehicles, but a bigger rental company is going even further. The German rental company Sixt has a fleet of a quarter million cars in 100 countries. Sixt has announced that it will not only stop buying Teslas, it will also sell off the ones they have. The company cites not only the falling resale value of Teslas, but also the high cost of repairs. Sixt is not stepping back from their goal of converting to EVs, however. They have committed to buying 100,000 RVs from the Chinese automaker BYD. Read about about the decision at Jalopnik. And then be on the lookout for a deal on a used Tesla from Sixt.
