Bollards: The Natural Enemy of the Automobile

A bollard is a vertical post used to stop people from driving where they shouldn't. Yet people keep driving into bollards anyway, and the car is always the loser in these encounters because bollards are designed for just that. The World Bollard Association, supposedly established in 1899, exists as a Twitter account that documents and archives the world's bollards, particularly the confrontations between bollards and automobiles.

The WBA takes particular glee in seeing BMWs impaled on bollards.

It's not all wrecks, though. The World Bollard Association also posts artful bollards and even cute and wholesome interactions with bollards.
