Behold the Golden Sahara II, the Most Luxurious Concept Car of the 1950s

Look at this car, just look at it! You may think you are looking at the rear of the vehicle, but no, that is the front. This is the concept car called the Golden Sahara II, and its futuristic styling is just the beginning of its features. George Barris customized it from a 1953 Lincoln Capri, adding gold plating, glowing tires, and a paint that contained real fish scales for added sparkle. Inside, the steering wheel was replaced by a joystick. But if you didn't know how to use a joystick, that's okay, because the car could be driven by remote-control.

The mechanics included self-driving ability by the use of sensors and magnetic tape. It even had an early version of voice recognition! Read more about the Golden Sahara II and see plenty of pictures, plus a video of its 2019 restoration project, at Moss and Fog.
